On September 6, 2010, a 47-year-old Dean Stewart was killed when he was hit by a big rig in the eastbound lanes of the 22 Freeway, reported Orange County Register. The impact of the collision was such that Stewart was thrown away 120 feet away from where he was crossing the road. According to California Highway Patrol officials, Stewart was on duty engaging him in the pickup truck duties. He had parked the vehicle on the right shoulder of the freeway. Authorities are bewildered as to what had happened, why Stewart stepped out into the traffic lanes or what had happened at the intersection? It is a pity that Stewart died untimely; it would be a great loss to his family members.
Highlighting on the car accidents, CHP’s 2008 traffic accident statistics revealed that over all there were 12 deaths and 717 injuries which occurred in Garden Grove. If we take Orange County as a whole around 152 people died and 13,414 people were injured due to car accidents in 2008. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) truck accident data exposed that there were 304 fatal trucks were involved in truck accidents and total 3,196 injury crashes occurred in the year 2008 in California. Coming again on this fatal pedestrian collision, officials would have been looking for the reasons behind the accident, whether it was the fault of the truck driver due to reckless driving or what were the circumstances that led Stewart died in the crash? If it comes out to be the fault of driver his employer could also be held responsible. Victim’s family is advised to contact a accident attorney in San Juan Capistrano or Orange County personal injury lawyers.
